Short Story

I’m David Aquilina, Strategic Storyteller. I’m a seasoned PR and media relations professional in Minneapolis. This is my short story.

I did not set out to be a business communications professional. Over time — and with a few bumps along the way — I became one as I realized that communications excellence has been at the heart of every success I’ve achieved in my career.

I have specialized in B2B communications as a Strategic Storyteller since 2000. But I have been crafting messaging, developing and issuing press releases, conducting PR and media relations to advance and place stories, and writing articles for national publications and journals for 25 years.

Today, growing private companies choose me to bring their stories to light. I help define their messages and tell their stories to the audiences whose decisions and actions impact their success. I have had the opportunity to support an array of clients, including: Xero Flor America, LiveRoof, VAST Enterprises, Creative Woodwork International, Outback Chair Company, Via Oncology, American TeleCare, and RES-Q Healthcare Systems.

I do good work and get great results — resulting in a total of eight Bronze Quill Awards from the International Association of Business Communicators for outstanding achievement in article writing and media relations.

I graduated from Denison University with a bachelor’s of arts degree in political science and religion. I earned a master’s of theological studies from Harvard Divinity School — the source of some of my best stories. And I have a master’s in public affairs from the Humphrey Institute at the University of Minnesota.

When not strategic storytelling for my clients, I cheer for the Minnesota Twins and enjoy terrific live music and theatre in the Twin Cities.
