Short Story

I’m David Aquilina, Strategic Storyteller. I’m a seasoned PR consultant, media relations professional and freelance writer. This is my short story.

I did not set out to be a business communications professional. Over time — and with more than a few bumps along the way — I became one as I came to understand that communications excellence has been at the heart of every success I’ve achieved and enjoyed in my career.

I have been crafting marketing messaging, developing and issuing press releases, conducting PR and media relations to advance and place stories, and writing articles for national trade publications and journals for more than 25 years. I have specialized in B2B communications as an independent professional since 2000.

Innovative companies choose me to bring their stories to light. I help define their messages and tell their stories to the audiences whose decisions and actions impact their success. I have had the opportunity to support an array of clients, including: LiveWall and Live Roof, Porous Pave, IrriGreen, Xero Flor, VAST Enterprises, Creative Woodwork International, Outback Chair Company, and Via Oncology.

I do good work and get great results — resulting in a total of eight Bronze Quill Awards from the International Association of Business Communicators for outstanding achievement in article writing and media relations.

I graduated from Denison University with a bachelor’s of arts degree in political science and religion. I earned a master’s of theological studies from Harvard Divinity School — the source of some of my best stories. And I have a master’s in public affairs from the Humphrey Institute at the University of Minnesota.

When not strategic storytelling for my clients, I cheer for the Minnesota Twins and enjoy terrific live music and theatre in the Minneapolis area.
